“Hi! I’m new at the club. How can I improve?”

In Money Mastery (Singapore) Toastmasters Club, our mission is to provide dedicated mentoring in the mastery of public speaking and leadership, in a warm and vibrant family. You will be assigned a mentor to help in your personal growth when you join us!!

As Catherine Chai earnestly shared “The mentorship programme under MMTMC has been invaluable in guiding me through my toastmaster’s journey. My mentor patiently guided me through the club’s customs and procedures, as well as the new pathway programme. He was supportive and generous in sharing his feedback on my speechcraft and my delivered speeches. He continuously provided me with excellent advice on improving my competency as a toastmaster. Personally, the most significant benefit that I have gained under my mentor is to achieve confidence and independence as a toastmaster.”

The mentors are committed to building a warm relationship as you learn the ropes of public speaking and leadership. Claire Lee shared her experience candidly “Every member at Money Mastery will be assigned to a dedicated mentor who volunteers his personal time coaching his mentees to become a more confident speaker. It is a unique commitment from Money Mastery to the journeys of their members’ rich learning and personal development. Moreover, there are seniors in the club who are there to share their experiences and provide their constructive feedback. Money Mastery is not only a safe place to practise becoming a public speaker, it is an open and generous community where you will be challenged, learn and grow with the opportunity to tap into resources of mentors as well as the diversity of your fellow members.”

Every member joins Money Mastery to become awesome public speakers. Samantha Lim jumped in and elaborated, “My mentor has been very patient and precise. He took great efforts to go through my speech drafts and made suggestions for improvements to create an impactful speech.”

Your mentor will be here to guide you with everything you need to know about toastmasters, the pathway educational programme, speech drafting and delivery, chapter meeting appointments, etc., etc., until you have completed at least Level 2 of your first pathway. However, the relationship does not end here as many mentors and mentees continue to support one another’s learning development.

What about our mentors’ motivations?

Mike Ng, DTM explained, “Simply, it’s for me to pass on what I’ve gained as a toastmaster over the past 16 years, so that members can fast track their learning journey and discover their speaking persona quickly. Having benefited tremendously and become the first Distinguished Toastmaster (DTM) in MMTMC, it’s my desire to be a role model, lead and show members how to optimize their efforts in this Toastmasters path of personal growth.”

Chai Pei Shan, DTM added, “What motivates me is the person’s heart to learn, especially someone who is teachable and committed to learning. It gives me tremendous joy when I see my mentees excelling in the personal goals that they have set out to achieve.”

Raymond Ee, ACB, CL highlighted, “I love to teach and share my knowledge. One of my strengths is the effective use of visual aids in presentations. One is never too young nor too old to become an influential speaker and presenter.”

Candrika Adri Tjo, CC, CL expounded, “Seeing fellow members improving is a meaningful experience that is more satisfying than winning a ribbon. And I find that I learn much more when I mentor members.”
